As we move into the warmest months of the year, most of our trees start to go semi-dormant to survive the blazing heat and humidity. During the dead of summer it is typically a poor time to work most temperate species. Thankfully we can still scratch our bonsai itch with tropicals. As things begin to heat up our tropical trees begin to actively grow and flourish outside. At this point, tropicals are most receptive to any work that needs to be done on them: repotting, styling, defoliating, large branch removal, etc. Unlike their temperate counterparts, most tropicals are so vigorous that multiple styling choices often can be made at the same time, and huge transformations can be realized very quickly. Bring in a tropical or two and enjoy the fun in the sun.
This workshop runs in conjunction with our monthly meeting and will begin promptly following the lecture for the July meeting given at 1 PM. Thus, the exact start time and end time may vary slightly depending on how long the discussion continues.
